Overview

About the manufacturer Sana

Prepare cold-pressed juices using the Sana Juicer-828

Sana stands for kitchen appliances that support a healthy lifestyle. That's why the company specializes in slow juicers that enable maximum nutrient-friendly juicing with a high juice yield.
Sana benefits from many years of experience that renowned manufacturers such as Omega and Hurom have gained. They work together in order to develop high-quality equipment that is tailored primarily to the needs of European customers: The plastic used is BPA/BPS-free; high-quality equipment - juice jug made of glass and pulp jar made of stainless steel; the warranty granted (Full Conditions) is comprehensive. While the predecessor model of the 828, the Sana Juicer by Omega 808, was developed in collaboration with Omega, the 828 is the first slow juicer that Sana developed independently.

How good is the quality of the juice?

Prepare juices in the Sana Juicer-828

Clear green juices

We especially love green juices and were amazed by the clear, thin-bodied juices only made off celery, parsley or lettuce. At a maximum of 43 revolutions per minute, the juice contains the maximum of nutrients - the ingredients are squeezed very gently and slowly.
The juice yield also is very good with low foam formation. The only noteworthy thing is that the juice chamber tends to clog with increasing amounts of fibrous ingredients. This is typical for vertical juicers, which is why they are not our first choice for fibrous ingredients.

Clear vegetable and fruit juices - mixed with leafy green ingredients

As long as the Pomance control is set to CLOSE, the Sana Juicer 828 can be used for any type of vegetable and fruit juices. They can be perfectly combined with green ingredients such as wild herbs or spinach. There is little foaming, the juice yield is good, and the nutrient content is high - all thanks to the gentle, slow juicing process. If you prefer your juice thicker, simply set the pulp regulator to the middle position and experiment around until you find the perfect consistency for you. The strength of the 828 certainly is the production of fine mixed juices, as they are already mixed in the juice drum and can be poured directly into your glass.

Ginger and/or turmeric shots

The Sana Juicer 828 is very convincing when it comes to making ginger or turmeric shots. They turn out clear and thin, are pleasantly spicy, and have an above-average juice yield.

Fresh sauerkraut juice

Homemade sauerkraut juice is a probiotic boon for intestinal health. This can easily be made with the 828 - either as a small shot or as a mixed juice with other ingredients. The sauerkraut juice is clear and thin.

Fruit juices with smoothie consistency - the coarse screen

Thanks to the pulp regulator and coarse screen, the 828 can also pepare juices with smoothie consistency or more pulp from soft fruit - such as pineapple, pear or mealy apples. This is especially practical when processing overripe fruit.

Is the Sana Juicer 828 capable of producing celery juice?

Although the Sana Juicer 828 shines with a decent juice yield, this is not its specialty. The more celery juice you prepare, the more likely it is that the juice drum will be clogged. This is common for all vertical juicers, which is why they are inferior to horizontal juicers for larger amounts of fibrous ingredients. Accordingly, in our elery juice juicer test, the first places are occupied only by horizontal juicers - right in front the Angel Juicer

Important preparation note: The celery stalks should be cut into 1-2 cm long pieces, allowing the pulp of the fruit to easily separate from the juice.

What other preparation possibilities are there?

Preparing nut milk in the Sana Juicer 828

Slow juicers can be very handy when preparing plant-based milk alternative such as almond or hazelnut milk. The 828 makes it so effortless that nut milk lovers will get their money's worth. For the preparation, insert the fine screen and set the pulp regulator to CLOSE. The nuts/almonds, previously soaked overnight, are simply added to the slow juicer in a nut/water ratio of 1:3. To achieve the thinnest possible nut milk result, the milk should be filtered through a strainer placed on top of the jug into which the nut milk is strained.

Preparing ice cream or sorbet in the 828

With the sorbet screen, the 828 can be used to prepare sorbets from frozen fruit. The result is better than comparable juicers - e.g the Sana Juicer 707. To sorbee is ready to serve after being properly stirred.
Important: The fruits used should not be larger than 2 cm and must be thawed briefly before use. Different varieties should be alternated to create a nice mixture.

Operation & handling of the Sana Juicer 828

The Sana Juicer 828 can be assembled quickly with a little routine. For example, marking lines help for orientation when placing the hopper on the juice drum. In addition, the Sana Juicer 828 is equipped with safety sensors. The device won't turn on if the juice drum is not in place.

Juicing with the Sana Juicer 828

Before the Sana Juicer 828 can start juicing, the pulp regulator must be set to CLOSE. This position generates the highest juice yield. The juice flap is closed. This allows the juice to mix directly in the juice drum.

The slow juicer can then be started by pressing the central ON-OFF-REV switch. Now simply feed the juice ingredients through the hopper and, if necessary, use the tamper to push them towards the auger. The ingredients are first crushed and then pressed against the screen.
The 828 juices extremely gently at only 43 revolutions per minute, the maximum of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc. is retained.

It is important to ensure that not too many ingredients are fed into the juice drum at the same time, as this can cause the motor to block. (See how to unblock using the REV button. )

Fibrous ingredients such as celery stalks or parsley should be cut to 1-2 cm long pieces.

Assembly of the Sana Juicer-828 Important note about pulp regulation:
  • When making larger quantities of juice, it is recommended to set the pulp regulator to the middle position after 400 ml. This prevents too much pulp from remaining in the juice drum, which could lead to a pressure increase in the juice drum.
  • The pulp control should also be set to the middle position if a lot of soft fruits or vegetables are juiced and you want maximum and clear juice yield.

When the juice drum is full, open the juice flap and allow the juice to flow into the juice jug. Then close the juice flap again to prevent juice from dripping onto the countertop. Once all ingredients have been juiced and no more pulp comes out, simply turn the central switch to OFF and stop the slow juicer.

Use of the fine screen:
The fine screen has very small holes and produces very clear juice. It is particularly well suited for hard ingredients. In our experience it can also be used for softer, overripe ingredients - in the production of mixed juices.

Use of the coarse screen:
The coarse screen has larger holes and makes thicker juices that also contain pulp. Particularly practical for soft and very juicy ingredients such as berries.

Screen inserts and sorbert insert of the Sana Juicer-828

Make ice or fruit sorbets with the Sana Juicer 828:

For the production of fruit sorbets from frozen fruit, use the sorbet screen. It is inserted into the juice drum without the wiper blade frame. The pulp regulator is turned to the CLOSE position. Now start the Sana Juicer 828 by turning the central ON-OFF switch to ON.

Important note: The frozen ingredients should not be larger than 2 cm and should be slightly thawed before pureeing. An excellent creamy sorbet result is achieved with a 50:50 ratio of frozen bananas and e. G. berries.

If the juice drum is clogged, press REV button

The Sana Juicer 828 may clog if too many ingredients are stuffed into the hopper or if the ingredients are inserted too fast. It therefore is advisable to slowly feed the device or to let the slow juicer feed the ingredients itself.
If a blockage occurs, simply press and hold the central switch on REV for 3-5 seconds to release the pressure from the auger. If necessary, repeat the process. With the REV function, the auger will rotate in the opposite direction. As soon as the drum is free again, release the switch and wait until the juicer stops - the device can now be switched on again, the pureeing process continues.

Cleaning the Sana Juicer 828

The easiest way to clean the Sana Juicer 828 is immediately after juicing. This has the advantage that residues of the juice ingredients and the pomace do not dry and make cleaning the Slow Juicer more difficult.
To do this, simply remove the juice drum including the hopper from the motor and place it in the sink. Disassemble the parts and remove the pulp residue with your hands over the pulp jar before rinsing. Most of the residue is inside the screen as well as in the pulp outlet. To pre-clean the pomace outlet, use the cleaning brush, the end of which is used to remove the pomace from the outlet. Now all parts are thoroughly rinsed with lukewarm water. To rinse the juice drum, set the pulp regulator to OPEN and open the juice outlet to allow the water to rinse through the openings. Also make sure that the juice drum is cleaned from below. Brush the screen insert with the cleaning brush - inside and outside until all residues of the ingredients are removed. For convenient cleaning of the hopper, we recommend the use of the practical cleaning brush, with which all openings can easily be cleaned.
Now you can place all the parts on a kitchen towel or dry them off and reassemble the juicer.

Attention: The juicer parts are not dishwasher safe!

Sana Juicer 828 vs. Angel Juicer

Advantages of Sana Juicer 828 vs Angel Juicer:

  1. Clean Juicing: Thanks to its juice flap, the Sana 828 does not spill a drop of juice after juicing. The freshly squeezed juice is filled into the juice jug or directly into a glass or drinking bottle by opening the juice flap. After filling, the flap can be closed again and nothing drips, as with other devices. Since the Angel Juicer does not have a juice flap, a few drops of juice always end up on the countertop. This is especially annoying with strongly coloring juices like beet juice or turmeric shots.
  2. Space consumption: The Sana 828 is much more compact than the Angel Juicer due to its vertical design. This is especially advantageous if you have limited space in your kitchen.
  3. Ease of use: In addition to the juice flap, the Sana 828 has convenient features such as its very easy-to-read scale on the side of the juice drum. In addition, the juices are already mixed during the juicing process - this saves time, as you do not have to mix the juices yourself.
  4. Lower price: The Sana 828 costs less than half of an Angel Juicer. At the same time, however, it impressed us with its very good juice yield. In our celery juice juicer test, it extracted only 6.5 percent less juice from the same amount of celery stalks than the Angel Juicer.

↑ up

Advantages of the Angel Juicer compared to the Sana Juicer 828:

  1. Slightly higher juice yield: With its twin auger, the Angel Juicer gets almost every drop of juice out of the ingredients. This is noticeable in a higher juice yield and an extremely dry pulp. In our celery juice juicer test, the Angel Juicer emerged as the test winner with the highest juice yield.
  2. Noble material: The Angel Juicer is the only slow juicer where all parts that are in contact with food and the housing are made of stainless steel. The only exception is the silicone seal. In our opinion, this makes it the most sustainable slow juicer!
  3. Unique flavor: While this may be a subjective judgment, whether it's fruit juices, green juices, or blended juices, freshly squeezed juices from the Angel Juicer simply taste the best. They have a slightly smoother and fuller flavor than freshly squeezed juices from any other slow juicer.
  4. Fibrous ingredients: The Angel Juicer is made for fibrous ingredients! Whether celery stalks, wheatgrass or other fibrous greens, the Angel Juicer does not clog! Even large quantities can be prepared without any problems.

Conclusion: Sana 828 or Angel Juicer?

The Sana 828 is much more space-saving than the Angel Juicer and therefore fits in any kitchen. If you want to drink a lot of juice and are looking for a compact and high-quality slow juicer, we can only recommend the Sana 828.

Sana Juicer 828 vs. Sana Supreme 727

Advantages of the Sana Juicer 828 compared to the Sana Supreme 727:

  1. Less expensive: The Sana 828 costs about a third less than what you would pay for the Sana Supreme. For price-conscious people, this is a strong selling point, especially if they prefer the look of a vertical juicer.

Advantages of the Sana Supreme 727 over the Sana Juicer 828:

  1. Higher juice yield: The Sana Supreme also beats the Sana 828 in terms of juice yield. In our celery juice juicer test, it extracted an average of 20 ml more juice from the green stalks than the Sana 828.
  2. Ease of use: The Sana Supreme is a bit easier to clean than the Sana 828, due to the smaller number of parts and the horizontal juicing method.
  3. Perfect for producing large quantities of juice: For the first time, a Sana juicer is equipped with a brushless industrial motor, which enables the Supreme 727 to juice without breaks.
  4. Power-saving & wear-free: A brushless DC motor has further advantages - the Sana Supreme juices more power-efficiently and, of course, wear-free.

Conclusion: Sana 828 or Sana Supreme 727?

The Sana 828 is definitely a high-quality vertical juicer with a chic retro design. It also has a good juice yield for all juice preparations. When it comes to vertical juicers, it is definitely our first choice! However, those who like to use fibrous ingredients such as celery or (wild) herbs will probably be better off with the Sana 727 Supreme.

The Sana Supreme combines the best of both vertical and horizontal juicers. This naturally comes into play when comparing it with the Sana 828: It has similarly space-saving dimensions and also has a practical juice flap which prevents spilling of the juice - actually the plus points of vertical juicers. It also scores with a higher juice yield and the benefits of its powerful industrial motor! Especially the non-stop juicing (the Sana 828 needs a break after 30 minutes of juicing) could tip the scales in favor of the Sana Supreme for people who drink a lot of juice - e. G. juice cures or juice fasts - or for catering businesses. In addition, horizontal slow juicers are much easier to clean due to their ease of use.

Questions & Answers about the Product

Ask a question

Total 9 question(s)

Hello :-) In the instructions it says: do not put fruit soaked in water in the juicer. But this does not apply to the preparation of almond milk, right? So can I put almonds soaked in water including the water in the juicer? And can I also put ingredients like milk etc right into the juicer when juicing? Thanks and LG Thomas

Question submitted by Thomas on September 21, 2021 at 15:30 o'clock

Hello Thomas,
thank you very much for your request.

Fruits should not be pickled before juicing.
It is the opposite for nuts and almonds used for vegan milk.
Use the fine screen and set the pulp control to CLOSE.
The nuts/almonds, previously soaked overnight, are simply added to the slow juicer in a 1:3 ratio with water.
To achieve the thinnest possible nut milk result, the milk should be filtered through a strainer - simply place on top of the juice jug.
Adding "real" milk to the juicer is an unusual idea that we haven't tried yet....it shouldn't actually harm the device, but it probably increases the cleaning effort.

I have the Sana 828, I'm quite satisfied because my kitchen is not so big. However, the fine sieve clogs when juicing turmeric.
Do you have a tip on how to remove turmeric residues?
Kind regards

Question submitted by Marina on August 19, 2021 at 11:17 o'clock

Hello Marina,

Thank you very much for your message.

General sieve clogging can be solved by soaking the sieve in a bath of hot water and adding 2-3 Kukident tablets. After about an hour, the sieve will be much easier to clean because the deposits have been dissolved.

If you put the parts in the sun for a few hours, the yellow turmeric stains will fade.

Best regards from Berlin :-)

Hello,
I would like to order this slow juicer. My mother has a hurom device, it is a gastro device and therefore comes with a total of 3 juice containers, augers and sieves. According to my mother, this is important – the material used for the juicer absorbs the flavour of certain ingredients (e.g., celery). Have you also made this experience? Is it possible to, reorder accessories?

Kind regards, Jutta

Question submitted by Jutta on April 17, 2020 at 14:57 o'clock

Dear Jutta,
Thank you for your message.
We have not yet noticed that the auger or other parts of the juicer absorb the flavour or taste.
However, if you personally prefer to be on the safe side, it is possible to purchase individual components of the juicer separately.

Dear GrueneSmoothies Team,
Thank you very much for the quick delivery of the Slow Juicer.
I have tried the juicer several times now, one thing that confuses me: the pulp regulator.
I had it in close mode and pulp still came out. I thought this is the mode where no pulp would leak out. Is this normal?
Thank you very much for your feedback!

Question submitted by Christel on January 12, 2019 at 15:53 o'clock

Hello Christel,

Thank you for your message and your feedback!:-)

The fact that some pulp still clears in the Close mode is normal and correct.
The regulator is responsible for building up a higher pressure between the pressed material and the sieve. This allows even more juice to be extracted. However, the pulp must always clear the device; otherwise the pressure would cause a malfunction.

We hope you enjoy juicing :- )

The 3rd generation of the Sana 828 is often advertised on other websites. Do you also offer the latest version?

Question submitted by Schmidt on September 27, 2019 at 12:29 o'clock

Hello Schmidt,

thank you very much for your question.

Currently, there only is the 3rd generation of the Sana EUJ-828. The predecessor model EUJ-808 had a 1st and a 2nd generation, so the generation designations still made sense, but we don't understand why the EUJ-828 is now referred to as the 3rd generation and not the 1st generation of the EUJ-828...

To avoid unnecessary confusion, we have therefore omitted the designation "3rd generation", even if it is the same device.

What is the difference between this juicer and the Sana by Omega EUJ-707? I drink celery juice daily, which one would be better? Thanks a lot

Question submitted by Ingrid Maria Kreisheimer on June 21, 2019 at 23:11 o'clock

Hello Ingrid,

thank you for your question.

Both slow juicers can handle celery with a good juice yield – however, the EUJ-828 produced about 25% more juice from the same amount of celery in our tests.

Apart from that, the two models differ in shape - the Sana Juicer EUJ-828 also scores here: it is simply more compact.

In terms of handling, the Sana Juicer EUJ-707 comes out on top because it is somewhat easier to clean. After all, it also has fewer parts.

In the end, however, it's all a matter of habit and in the overall package, we consider the Sana Juicer EUJ-828 superior for people who juice regularly.

Best regards,

A great device!
The juicer has been in use for 3 days and already made various juices (including pure fruit juices, e.g., apple, melon, orange, etc.) and fresh almond milk – fantastic! At first had concerns about cleaning, since the vertical devices have more parts. However, the concern was completely unfounded. If the device is cleaned directly after use, cleaning is done very quickly. I hope the juicer can also convince in the long run, so far, I'm just thrilled. The difference in taste to purchased juices is enormous, delicious and fruity. Almond milk as well – full flavour and very creamy.

Top Customer Service
After researching for almost a month what slow juicer suits my lifestyle best, I chose Sana EUJ 828. The vertical juicer is very practical and fits my kitchen. The quality of the juicer speaks for its price. A very important factor for me is the guarantee on the spare parts and the motor. Mine came with a small scratch, which the customer support sent in no time a goodwill gesture and a price reduction. I am very happy and satisfied. I highly recommend the team behind this website!
Everything is fine! Top customer service and lightning fast delivery.

Reliable, very quiet, excellent juice yield, easy cleaning
After I had quite a bad experience with the MJ-L501 from Panasonic (see end of review), I was seeking alternatives. I found the Sana 828.
First things first – the customer service on the phone was / is simply outstanding! 1000 thanks! This is why I decided to buy the more expensive version of the Sana Juicer, the 828 – I am soooo satisfied!
The juice yield is extremely good, check out the celery check from GrueneSmoothies for details! The device is extremely quiet, is super easy to disassemble and reassemble, cleaning is quick and easy. And it may not be objective but to me and my whole family, the fruit/vegetable drinks that the 828 "spits out" taste significantly better and more intense than anything we've ever gotten out of the Panasonic. I don't think any of us would have thought that this was possible....
The price of 500,00€ is quite high, but it was absolutely worth in our opinion!
A few final words about our previous experiences.
In itself, the Panasonic was not so bad. However, we now know that more flavour, more juice yield and less cleaning effort are possible. The really annoying thing was that 5 weeks and 4 weeks (after the spare part delivery) the centre ring of the sieve was broken in several places and thus unusable. The Amazon return was problem-free, however, knowing that a defective accessory for approximately less than €15.00 can lead to the entire device ending up in the scrap hunted me with a guilty conscience. That's not how it works nowadays, not for me!

High quality service, excellent products
Hurray, yesterday I did it and bought the Sana Juicer EUJ-828. Your super informative website and the good customer service in the store made the decision easier for me! Needless to say, I used the juicer right when I got home yesterday. I started with a small glass of celery juice – Phew, still something to get used to. Luckily, had beet and co. in the fridge. Smooth handling, processed everything with ease and a high juice yield. Made the first green juice this morning – Again, perfect. Thanks for your great website. Now I have a super addition to the green smoothies.

Hello, I received my juicer yesterday. Thank you for the Super fast delivery. Unfortunately, I cannot use it because the instruction manual is in English. I have managed to assemble it, but I can't work with the English explanations. You should have my E-mail address – Could you please send me a German instruction manual?

Editor's note:

Hello Kerstin Lahmann,

Do NOT use turmeric in copious amounts in a slowjuicer, only in a blender!
I used plenty of fresh turmeric to prepare the “turmeric shot” – and not just a little – mixed with lime and apple. Preparation no problem. But the turmeric adheres strongly to the parts of the juicer, especially the auger, this is why it required significant effort to get everything clean again. There still is a yellow touch remaining. Therefore, one should know that turmeric in larger quantities will leaf its marks!
