Value for money winner with stainless steel twin-auger - perfect for green juices

Producing celery juice with the Greenstar Pro

If you especially love green juices from celery, grasses, herbs and leafy greens of all kinds, the twin augers of the Greenstar Pro will fulfill all your juice needs. Special plus: The twin augers are made entirely of stainless steel, you get a 12-year warranty and the standard scope of delivery already perfectly equips you for all juice preparations and more.

Our price-performance winner among horizontal juicers with twin-augers.

Greenstar Pro Product Highlights:

  • Specialist for green juices: The Greenstar Pro loves greens! Not only does it extract maximum juice from herbs, grasses, and cabbage leaves, but juicing succeeds almost by itself as the twin-augers pull the ingredients through the hopper.
  • Full-bodied, smooth juice flavor: The fact that the twin-augers juice the ingredients extremely efficiently also benefits the taste of the juices. They taste full-bodied and smooth and are milder than those from single auger slow juicers.
  • Twin-augers are made of 100 percent stainless steel: This makes this Greenstar model very robust against wear.
  • Generous scope of delivery: The Greenstar Pro is not only equipped with 2 screen inserts for juicing, but also with 2 additional inserts for pureeing, chopping and homogenizing. In addition, there are 2 tampers - made of plastic and wood - as well as a draining tray.
  • Secured investment: 12-year warranty (for purely private use!)

Overview

About the manufacturer Tribest

Tribest Greenstar Pro in Grey

Greenstar manufacturer Tribest is one of the leading producers of premium slow juicers. The company has been developing horizontal slow juicers with twin augers - the so-called Twin Gear technology - for over 30 years. This can almost be seen as a guarantee for a highly efficient juicer.
We value the Greenstar as a high-quality specialist for juicing green ingredients such as grasses, herbs, celery as well as any leafy vegetables and as a cheaper alternative to the Angel juicer models.

How good is the quality of the juice?

Clear juices with full-bodied soft aroma

The Greenstar Pro squeezes the ingredients - whether leafy greens, grasses, vegetables or fruit - extremely efficiently and in a nutrient-friendly manner at 110 rpm. The high pressure used to juice the ingredients is noticeable in the extremely dry pulp and the full-bodied, smooth flavor that the Greenstar Pro infuses into its juices.

Green nutrient-rich juices made with the Greenstar Pro

Clear green juices with a very high juice yield are produced almost effortlessly

The Greenstar Pro loves grasses, herbs, lettuce, and cabbage leaves. In short, anything that contains a lot of chlorophyll, the Greenstar juices almost by itself. The stainless steel twin-augers shred and squeeze the plant fibers so gently that they achieve the highest juice yield possible.

Clear vegetable and/or fruit juices

Hard ingredients that cannot be crushed with bare hands, such as carrots, parsnips, celery, or hard apples are processed into full-bodied juices with the Greenstar Pro. Unlike leafy greens, however, juicing requires the use of a tamper - to push the ingredients through the hopper towards the augers.

If you want to blend soft ingredients, such as kiwis or zucchinis, with hard ingredients, you should add them alternately to the hopper. This prevents foaming.

Fruit juices only from soft ingredients

Pure or mixed fruit juices made from ripe pineapple, mealy apples or overripe pears can only be made in small quantities of up to approx. 150 ml using the fine screen. Larger quantities cause a foamy blockage in the hopper, which cannot be completely cleared even with the REVERSE function of the juicer. As described above, hard ingredients like carrots and grasses or herbs like parsley would be the solution. They have a congestion-releasing effect - a kind of "cleaner".

Thicker juices with the coarse screen

If you still like to prepare juices from soft fruits such as mealy apples and pears in larger quantities, you should use the coarse screen. This screen is included in the standard scope of delivery of the Greenstar Pro and produces thicker, almost smoothie-like juices.

Ginger and/or turmeric shots

If you like ginger and/or turmeric shots, you can now prepare these healthy helpers with your Greenstar Pro. The tubers are nice and hard - therefore, they are juiced to the last drop by the twin-augers.

Fresh sauerkraut juice

The greenstar Pro also is capable of producing fresh sauerkraut juice/shots. You can even make larger quantities of mixed sauerkraut juices. The great thing is that sauerkraut juice made from fresh, raw sauerkraut can be kept in the refrigerator for several days.

Is the Greenstar Pro capable of producing celery juice?

Tribest Greenstar Pro in gray with celery juice

In our celery juice juicer test, the Greenstar Pro came in 5th place, the midfield of all the juicers we tested. It extracted an average of 387 ml of juice from 500 g of celery. In terms of taste, however, the Greenstar Pro was in no way inferior to the test winner Angel Juicer! The taste of the celery juice was equally full-bodied and smooth.

What other preparation possibilities are there?

The greenstar pro can not only be used for the preparation of juices, it can also be used for various other preparations. Thanks to the additional screen inserts, it can also be used for pureeing, homogenizing and chopping:

  • With the puree screen: For grinding nuts and seeds as well as making baby food, hummus and vegetarian creams or spreads.
  • With the dough insert: For making homogeneous, smooth masses such as dough, nut porridge and fruit sorbets.

Operation & handling of the Greenstar Pro

Greenstar Pro with the central on-off reverse switch

The Greenstar Pro should only be assembled when the power plug is not plugged in. A total of 8 parts must be assembled before juicing can begin. It is important that the twin-augers are assembled according to the red markings on the edge of the augers. After a few preparations you will be more routined. All other parts are easy and almost self-explanatory to assemble

Hopper cover must engage correctly: The cover of the hopper must lock in place vertically, otherwise the device won't start.

The last step is to fasten the juice outlet knob with a clockwise rotation.

Since the outlet knob regulates the pressure with which the ingredients are squeezed, it is tightened fully or only halfway, depending on the nature of the ingredients. Hard ingredients such as carrots, crisp-fresh apples or celeriac are juiced with the outlet knob fully tightened. Grasses such as wheat or barley grass, leafy greens, celery, softer fruits and vegetables such as pineapple and zucchini are juiced with the knob half-tightened.

Greenstar Pro juice outlet

Once the Greenstar Pro is connected to the power, juicing can begin. Position the drip tray on the work surface below the juice outlet, place the juice jug on top and place a pulp jar below the pulp outlet. Since the hopper has a diameter of about 4 cm, the juice ingredients must be cut accordingly. Now turn the central on-off reverse switch on the edge of the handle to ON. Place the ingredients in the hopper and, if necessary, push them towards the augers with one of the tampers. It is important not to overload the hopper. The Greenstar Pro juices best and most efficiently when the ingredients are squeezed one after the other.

It is quite normal for a few drops of juice to come out of the pulp outlet at the beginning of the juicing process, however, this will stop after a few moments. The juicing process is finished as soon as no more juice comes out of the juice outlet and no more pulp comes out of the pulp outlet.

Tip 1: Use wooden tamper
The wooden tamper is longer than the plastic tamper, it reaches the augers. This is quite helpful with some ingredients.

Tip 2: Glass jug strainer for foam-free juices
Foam forms during the juicing process. If you want to enjoy your juices as foam-free as possible, place the juice jug strainer on the juice jug. This way you can filter out most of the foam.

Tip 3: Keep the device running for a little while after juicing
After all the ingredients have been juiced, it still takes a little while for the last drops of juice to come out. Catch the last drops of juice by allowing the Greenstar to run for a few more minutes after the juicing process has ended.

If juice or foam accumulates in the hopper

Softer juice ingredients such as mealy apples, grapes, zucchini, and cucumbers may cause juice or foam to form in the hopper. This problem can be solved easily when preparing mixed juices, simply by alternating between hard and soft ingredients. We also found that herbs and leafy greens can dissolve the blockage very well, the Greenstar pulls elongated leafy greens through the augers almost by itself. Otherwise, the reverse function is there to clear the ingredient blockage. Simply turn the central control switch to the reverse function and hold it down. Allow the device to rotate in reverse until the blockage is cleared. Then turn the central control switch back to the starting position and continue the juicing process.

The Greenstar Pro stops during operation

If the motor suddenly stops during juicing, there is a blockage in the juice drum. The blockage can be cleared by reversing the rotation of the auger. Set the switch to "Reverse" and let the device run until the ingredients are loosened up. Once the blockage is cleared, you can proceed with the juicing process. If the motor stops several times during the juicing process, the outlet knob may be too tight.

Cleaning the Greenstar Pro

The Greenstar Pro is best cleaned directly after juicing, when the pulp residue have not dried yet! Proceed as follows:

  • Turn off the juicer and disconnect the power plug from the plug.
  • Now disassemble the Greenstar Pro and roughly remove the pulp residues from the screen, from the screen housing, from the juice outlet knob and from the twin-augers with your hands into the organic waste. This will prevent the pulp from clogging your sink.
  • Now rinse the individual parts with lukewarm water and, if necessary, some detergent. Use cleaning brush and scraper for the screen and the augers. We also recommend the use of our practical cleaning brush, with which you can get perfectly through all openings and thus remove residues quickly and easily.
  • Afterwards, dry all parts and reassemble the Greenstar Pro or let all juicer parts dry on a kitchen towel.
  • Simply remove dirt from the motor block with a damp cloth. Please never immerse the motor block completely in water!

Note: All parts except the motor block and the protective cover are dishwasher safe! From time to time, you can therefore clean the parts in the dishwasher. It is best to remove the coarse pulp residues by hand, to avoid clogging the dishwasher drain.

Greenstar Pro vs. Elite

In terms of juice yield and operation, the two Greenstar juicers are no different. Nevertheless, the Greenstar Pro has a little more attention to detail: The augers are made of stainless steel and contain no plastic. The Elite cuts the cost at this point and half of the auger is made of BPA-free plastic.

The higher-quality material of the Greenstar Pro presumably also allows us to expect a longer service life without replacing the augers. After all, the manufacturer grants a 12-year warranty for the Greenstar Pro compared to a 5-year warranty for the Greenstar Elite.

Another plus point: The motor of the Greenstar Pro has an integrated tamper holder - Extremely practical!

Our verdict: The price difference between the Greenstar Pro and the Elite is more than justified and makes the Greenstar Pro the price-performance winner among juicers with twin-augers.

Greenstar Pro vs. Angel Juicer

Since Greenstar juicers are considered a spin-off of the Angel Juicer, it is just logical to expect some similarities. Both devices rely on the twin-auger technology, and while the Angel Juicer is almost entirely made of stainless steel, which is cost-prohibitive, especially when it comes to the screens, the Greenstar tries to offer all the functional advantages of the Angel Juicer at the lowest price possible. Of course, this is only possible with limitations. For example, the housing and the juice drum are completely made of BPA-free plastic, except for the screen. This is also the reason for the Greenstar Pro's more extensive scope of delivery. While the Angel Juicer only comes with the fine screen and each additional screen costs several hundred euros, all 4 screens are already included with the Greenstar Pro. Also included are 2 tampers (wooden tamper for the Angel Juicer must be purchased separately and costs just under 20 euros), as well as a drip tray, which prevents spilling juice on the countertop. Functionally, you get more performance for less money with the Greenstar Pro. Even though the Greenstar isn't one of the prettiest or most modern kitchen appliances and is even a bit taller than the Angel Juicer, we can't fault the build quality. Everything seems sturdy and made for a long time of use. Just as we knew it from the past. The manufacturer's warranty of 12 years also stands for itself. The juice yield also is only slightly lower than that of the Angel Juicer.

In summary: The Greenstar Pro can be recommended to anyone looking for a really high-quality slow juicer with twin-augers and who (still) shies away from the high costs of the Angel Juicer. The price/performance ratio is significantly better than with an Angel Juicer and the compromises you make compared to the Angel Juicer are manageable. Among the twin-auger slow juicers, the Greenstar Pro therefore is our price-performance winner.

Greenstar Pro vs. Sana Supreme 727

In this comparison, we look at the respective premium juicers from Tribest and Sana, which are in the same price segment. Both slow juicers are horizontal juicers - the Greenstar Pro relies on twin-auger, the Sana Supreme, on the other hand, relies on its single auger juicing technology.

In terms of juice yield, both slow juicers performed above average in our celery juice juicer test: The Sana Supreme was a tad ahead with 397 ml of celery juice. It extracted an average of 10 ml more juice from 500 g of celery than the Greenstar Pro with its 387 ml. In terms of taste, however, the Greenstar Pro had the edge - twin augers squeeze out every drop of flavor, no matter what type of fruit or vegetable they juice - the taste experience is somewhat fuller-bodied and smoother than with juices from the Sana Supreme.

The two slow juicers differ much more in their handling. The Sana Supreme is easier to assemble and disassemble and, above all, much faster to clean. The motor is installed vertically, which makes it more compact and thus more space-saving than the Greenstar Pro. Another plus: The juice flap on the Sana Supreme prevents annoying spills on the countertop and is more practical than the drip tray on the Greenstar Pro.
The brushless industrial motor on the Sana Supreme also allows for uninterrupted juicing - meaning large amounts of juice can be made without stops. Definitely one of the premium features on the Sana Supreme. This makes it interesting for people who regularly do juice fasting or juice cures, larger households or families, as well as for gastro-professionals. And that's not all that distinguishes the powerful Supreme motor: It also operates much more energy-efficiently, quieter and with less wear and tear.

Conclusion: The performance of the Sana Supreme 727 - especially with regard to larger juice volumes - as well as the easier handling is convincing and makes it the winner for us.

The only exception: If you mainly want to juice grasses such as wheat or barley grass, wild herbs and other leafy vegetables, you are better off with the Greenstar Pro. The twin augers juice greens almost by themselves!

Improved classic
We had the Greenstar Elite for 11 years. Now that my daughter is also starting with celery juice, she got our old device and we treated ourselves to a new one. In addition to the Greenstar's enormously high juice yield, its durability really convinced me: 11 years of operation without a hitch has become a rarity these days. I bought the Greenstar Pro primarily because the press rollers are made entirely of stainless steel. The part of the rollers that are made of plastic in the Elite were discolored by ginger and turmeric after a short time. This no longer happens with the augers of the Greenstar Pro.
