Wow - he looks good!

Compact, straight lines, simple design - a small, sweet coffee machine. It should find a place even in the smallest kitchens!
Freshly squeezed juices from leafy greens, vegetables and fruits are prepared easily, but they contain a noticeable amount of fiber - about 10 percent of the juice. If you like that, you'll be happy with the Hurom DU.

Hurom DU product highlights:

  • Compact design: Thanks to its space-saving design, the Hurom DU fits in any kitchen and under any kitchen cabinet.
  • Wide hopper: Fruits and vegetables only need to be roughly cut for juicing - this definitely saves time.
  • Timeless design: Not only small, but visually one of the most beautiful slow juicers - especially among horizontal juicers.
  • Secured & sustainable: 10-year warranty on the motor block; 2-year warranty on all other parts.

Overview

About the manufacturer Hurom

Hurom is one of the leading manufacturers of slow juicers. The South Korean company has been on the market with high-quality juicers that inspire people to drink nutrient-rich freshly squeezed juices since the 1970s. Compact vertical juicers are Huroms specialty. With the Hurom DU, the juicer specialist has now succeeded in designing a horizontal juicer with similarly compact dimensions as a vertical juicer.

How good is the quality of the juice?

Green juices with fiber residues only

Green juices from leafy greens, cabbage leaves, celery or herbs can be produced quickly and easily with the Hurom DU. However, the juices contain a clearly noticeable amount of fiber residue. As a result, the juice yield initially appears to be quite high; if the fiber residues are filtered out with a nut milk bag or a juice sieve, the juice yield is significantly reduced - by about 10 percent. The result is a clear juice with a mild aroma. Compared to other juicers, the juice from the Hurom DU tastes somewhat more watery, which is probably due to the high proportion of fiber residue that is not squeezed out.

Vegetable and fruit juices - pure or as mixed juice with fiber residues

Fiber residue also is produced when juicing carrots, cucumbers, zucchini and/or apples, pears and pineapples. Only filtering through a sieve or a nut milk bag can ensure a clear consistency.

Prepare carrot juice with the Hurom DU

Ginger and/or turmeric shots

Ginger and/or turmeric are always used to produce minimal amounts of juice, therefore the so-called shots are easy to prepare with the Hurom DU. Fiber residues are present to a minor extent - comparable to other slow juicers in the medium price segment.

Fresh sauerkraut juice

No problem for the Hurom DU! 100 g of sauerkraut are processesed into just under 70 ml of juice, with hardly any fiber residue in the juice. Definitely one of the best juice applications we tested in the Hurom DU.

Is the Hurom DU capable of producing celery juice?

Of course, we also tested the Hurom DU for making pure celery juice according to Anthony William. Celery is uncomplicated to juice using the Hurom DU. However, the Hurom DU does not manage to juice the celery stalks without fiber residues. If, for example, the test winner Angel Juicer succeeds in producing a super-clear juice consistency free of celery particles, these are clearly present in the celeryjuice in the Hurom DU and may have to be filtered out with a juice sieve or through a nut milk bag.

In our celery juice juicer test (8/2019), the Hurom DU - using a juice sieve - ended up in second-to-last place.

Important preparation note: The celery stalks should be cut into 1-2 cm long pieces, allowing the pulp of the fruit to easily separate from the juice.

What other preparation possibilities are there?

With the included blank screen insert for pureeing as well as a 4-piece pasta set, the Hurom DU can not only be used for juicing, but also for the following preparations:

  • Fresh nut milks, e. G. from almonds and/or hazelnuts
  • Fruit purees from cooked fruits - e. G. applesauce
  • Fruit sorbets and ice cream
  • Nut porridge made from roasted nuts, e. G. peanuts or cashews
  • Baby food made from raw fruits or cooked ingredients
  • Pasta dough and 3 different pasta variations

Hurom DU Assembly

Operation & handling of the Hurom DU

The Hurom DU is quick and easy to assemble: In total, only 4 parts need to be assembled. First, the juice drum housing incl. hopper is attached to the motor block with the locking flap. Now insert the auger and the fine screen - lock them by turning the lid counterclockwise. Place the juice jug and the pulp jar under the corresponding outlets.
The ingredients should be cut small enough to fit through the hopper of the Hurom DU. As an example, small apples can be quartered and large apples can be cut into eighths. The central control button with the start, stop and reverse functions is located on the back of the motor block. This is where the juicer is turned on. Now add the ingredients one by one into the hopper and, if necessary, use the tamper to push them towards the auger. Don't be surprised if some juice comes out of the pulp outlet first. This stops immediately. Instead, the juice now drips into the juice jug underneath the auger. The juicing process is finished when no more juice or pulp comes out of the juicer.

Tip 1: The Hurom DU has a stand for the juice jug to prevent juice from spilling onto the countertop. However, spilling can also be prevented by simply letting the juicer run for another 1-3 minutes before removing the juice jug.

Tip 2: For clear juices without fiber residue, be sure to place a sieve on the juice jug or use a nut milk bag to filter the juice.

If the juice drum is clogged, press REV button

Especially soft juice ingredients such as zucchini, ripe pears, or mealy apples, tend to get stuck in the juice drum. To release the jam, first switch off the device. Then press and hold the REV function until the jam is released. The Hurom DU is ready to be used again as soon as it stops rotating.

Tip: To prevent a jam, it is recommended to juice soft and hard ingredients alternately - e. G. ripe pears alternating with carrots. This way, juicing soft fruits and vegetables also succeeds without any problems.

Blank screen for nut milks or purees

The included blank screen allows the Hurom DU to extend its use to chopping, pureeing, or nut milk production. Simply replace the fine screen with the blank screen, put on the cap and you're ready to go.

Cleaning the Hurom DU

It is important to disconnect the device from the power supply before cleaning. It is best to remove the juice drum incl. screen, auger and sealing cap and place them in the sink. Frist remove the pulp from the juicer and disassemble the individual parts. Then rinse the individual parts with lukewarm water. To clean the hopper and the juice drum, we recommend using our practical cleaning brush. This makes it easy to clean the openings and remove ingredient residues. To clean the screen, use the cleaning brush supplied. If a larger amount of fibrous ingredients has been juiced, cleaning the pulp regulator requires a little more attention and patience as fibers accumulate behind the blade. It is best to remove the fibers with the end of the small cleaning brush under running water. At the end, you can either let the parts air dry or wipe them with a kitchen towel and then reassemble the Hurom DU right away. Done!

Attention: The juicer parts are not dishwasher safe!
