About the manufacturer Omega
The American company Omega has been producing juicers for the production of cold-pressed juices since the 1980s. Omega is characterized by the continuous development of its products. Accordingly, the Omega Juicers 8228 is the successor model to the 8226, the juicer manufacturer has succeeded in making a quantum leap in terms of juice yield. For us, this is the decisive reason to include this juicer in our store
How good is the quality of the juice?
Clear green juices
The Omega Juicers 8228 produces clear, virtually fiber-free green juices from leafy vegetables, herbs, grasses or cabbage varieties. At 80 revolutions per minute, the ingredients are juiced in a nutrient-preserving manner without generating heat. The taste is round and smooth.
Clear vegetable and fruit juices - single-variety or as a mixed juice
The Omega Juicer 8228 can be used to produce single-variety fruit or vegetable juices as well as mixed juices. If only very soft fruits such as ripe pears, mealy apples or peaches are juiced, the juice consistency is somewhat thicker.
Ginger and/or turmeric shots
A healthy, clear consistency immune booster made with ginger and turmeric can be prepared in no time with the Omega 8228.
Tip: Ginger shots and especially turmeric shots are quite colorful, we recommend placing a cloth under the juice glass or juice collection container so that no juice drips onto the countertop when removing them.
Fresh sauerkraut juice
The Omega 8228 passed this test easily: It can produce freshly squeezed, probiotic sauerkraut juice without any problems. The Omega Juicers 8228 extracts just under 70 ml of juice from 100 g of fresh, raw sauerkraut.
Is the Omega Juicers 8228 capable of producing celery juice?
The Omega Juicers 8228 is even better suited for celery juice production than its predecessor - the 8226. The new pulp regulator now allows to increase the pressure on the pressed pulp and therefore achieves a significantly higher juice yield. In our celery juice juicer test, it extracted an average of 392 ml of juice from 500 g of celery and came in 4th - the maximum of nutrients ends up in the freshly squeezed celery juice, which is characterized by a soft, round taste and an almost fiber-free consistency. Absolutely recommendable! For comparison: the test winner Angel Juicer extracted 430 ml.
Preparation tip: Cut the celery stalks into 1-2 cm long pieces. In our experience, the Omega Juixers 8228 then juices even faster and even more efficiently.
What other preparation possibilities are there?
The Omega 8228 is equipped with a wide range of accessories for homogenizing and pureeing, as well as for making dough and pasta. These applications require the use of the puree screen in combination with the appropriate cap and one of the various nozzles for grissini or pasta.
Other preparations at a glance:
- Fresh nut milks, e. G. from almonds and/or hazelnuts
- Fruit purees made from cooked fruits - e. G. apple puree
- Fruit sorbets and ice cream
- Nut porridge made from roasted nuts, e. G. peanuts or cashews
- Baby food made from raw fruits or cooked ingredients
Operation & handling of the Omega Juicer 8228
Layout of the Omega Juicer 8228
The Omega Juicers 8228 not only is an efficient slow juicer, it also is very easy to assemble and operate. 6 parts need to be assembled: First, attach the juice drum including the filling chute to the motor block via the locking ring so that the handle is in the CLOSE position. Now place the hopper on the filling chute. Now insert the auger and underneath it the juicing screen. Lastly, attach the pulp regulator to the cap and then attach this to the juice drum with a left turn. Now place the juice jug and the pulp jar under the juice outlet and connect the Omega 8228 to the power supply.
Tip: If you want to prepare your juice completely without fiber residue, place the supplied juice strainer on the juice jug.
Adjusting the pulp regulator
For preparing clear juices from hard ingredients like carrots, beets, crisp apples, or fibrous ingredients like celery, leafy greens, or herbs, we recommend to close the pulp regulator completely by turning it counterclockwise. The ingredients are squeezed against the screen with 80 revolutions per minute using maximum pressure, this results in an excellent juice yield.
This pulp regulation setting can also be maintained when juicing hard and soft ingredients alternately, such as ripe pears or pineapples, berry fruits, or stone fruits such as nectarines and peaches.
The pulp regulator must be adjusted if only soft ingredients are juiced; turning it clockwise reduces the pressure on the pulp.
Juicing with the Omega Juicers 8228
Before you start juicing, wash the ingredients, peel them if necessary and cut them to fit the diameter of the hopper. Now start the Omega 8228 by switching the central function button on the back of the motor block to ON. Now slowly add the ingredients one by one, using the tamper to push them towards the auger if necessary. When all the ingredients have been juiced, leave the juice jug underneath the device for another 1-2 minutes in order to catch all the remaining juice drops. When you remove it afterwards, simply place a cloth under the juice outlet to avoid stains on the countertop.
Tip: If you cut the ingredients to 2-3 cm pieces, the Omega 8228 will not only juice faster, but you will also get a few more drops of juice out of the ingredients.
Note: The maximum runtime in continuous operation is 30 minutes.
If the juice drum is clogged, press REV button
If an ingredient jam occurs in the feed chute during juicing, you can clear it by activating the REV function with the central function button on the back of the motor block. To do this, keep the REV function pressed. Now the auger rotates backwards. After about 10-15 seconds, release the REV button again, wait until the auger completely stops rotating and restart the juicer.
Tip: Ingredient clogging is mainly caused by juicing soft ingredients such as mealy apples, ripe pears or zucchini. If you juice the soft ingredients alternately with hard ingredients such as carrots, beets or fibrous ingredients such as leafy vegetables or celery, ingredient clogging can be avoided in the first place!
Cleaning the Omega Juicer 8228
It is best to clean the juicer right after use, so that the juice residues do not dry in the first place. Cleaning the Omega 8228 is done in just a few minutes! This juicer is even easier to clean than comparable horizontal juicers - especially with the removable feeding hopper.
Always disconnect the juicer from the power supply before cleaning. Then disassemble the juice drum from the motor block and put it directly into the sink. Now disassemble all parts and remove the pulp residues with your hands. Rinse all parts with lukewarm water. Clean the screen with the cleaning brush provided. Finally, empty the pulp jar and rinse it out along with the juice jug. Either place all parts on a kitchen towel or dry them by hand and reassemble the juicer.
Dishwasher safe! The manufacturer declares that all parts can be cleaned in the upper compartment of the dishwasher. However, the juice residues should be removed beforehand as described above.

Cleaning brush
The Omega 8228 is easy to clean, and it's even easier with our cleaning brush. It can be used to remove pulp residues quickly and efficiently, especially from the hopper and the juice drum. The cleaning brush can also be used for cleaning bottles, it perfectly fits through the bottle necks with its diameter of 3 cm.

Difference between Omega Juicers 8228 vs. MM900
While the Omega 8228 is a slow juicer with additional functions, such as pasta or sorbet, the MM900 specializes primarily in celery juice. Those who buy the slow juicer primarily for celery juice are therefore better off with the Omega Juicers MM900. The latter also comes with a pomace regulator specially developed for celery stalks, which looks amazingly similar to the normal one on the outside, but is tighter on the inside and is supplemented by a green inner ring made of silicone. This ensures that every last drop of juice is squeezed out of the celery stalks.
The MM900 comes without all the attachments that have nothing to do with juicing (blank screen for ice cream, pasta and grissini attachments). This clearly distinguishes the MM900 from the 8228 as a pure juicer.
Difference between Omega Juicers 8228 vs. 8227
The Omega 8227 is the 8228 in silver instead of chrome. So again, the 8228 is in chrome and the 8227 is silver. Aside from the color, everything is completely the same. Unfortunately, Omega Juicers has chosen a separate product name for one color variant. Since we find this extremely irritating and the device is generally known as the 8228, we have dropped the designation 8227.

Hello,
Can I use it to make many juices at once or is there a risk of overheating?
Question submitted by Sarah on February 7, 2023 at 17:15 o'clock
Hello Sarah,
thank you very much for your enquiry.
Like almost all slow juicers, you have to pause the Omega 8228 after thirty minutes and let the motor cool down.
Please also remove the cap after every 400 - 500 ml of juice and rinse the strainer and cap briefly.
Best regards,

Is this juicer also recommended for pressing carrots, apples or citrus fruits?
Question submitted by Birgit on February 12, 2021 at 14:54 o'clock
Hello Birgit
Thank you very much for your message.
This juicer specializes in green juices and loves hard and/or fibrous ingredients like carrots, celery, herbs, ginger….
It depends on the variety and the storage time when preparing apple juice, the harder and fresher the better.
A pure juice from soft apples, citrus fruits, berries or other soft ingredients will be difficult, however, here you should rather choose a juicer, which also has a coarse sieve available.
However, you can always use the Omega 8228 to process soft ingredients together with hard ingredients into a mixed juice by alternating them, e.g. an orange-ginger juice or an apple-carrot juice.

Hello,
Can the celery attachment for the MM900 be purchased for this device?
Question submitted by Anna on October 10, 2020 at 10:47 o'clock
Hello Anna,
thank you very much for your message.
Unfortunately, the additional pulp control for celery is not available for the 8228.
However, if you proceed as follows, you can achieve an excellent juice yield with celery:
Turn the pulp regulator completely closed with a counterclockwise rotation. This way the pressure on the ingredients will be increased.

What are the differences between the Omega Juicers 8228 and Sana Juicer by Omega EUJ-707?
Question submitted by Annalene Wedding on May 9, 2020 at 13:11 o'clock
Hall Annalene,
thank you for your message
The Omega 8228 is equipped with a pulp regulator, which means you can adjust the pressure in the juice chamber. If you are juicing soft ingredients, you leave the regulator open. If you are juicing hard ingredients, you close the regulator. The Sana 707 uses the different sieves instead of the regulator. For soft ingredients, you can use the coarse sieve, which the 8228 does not have.
In general, the juice yield of the Omega 8228 is somewhat higher, but the Sana 707, with its three different sieves, can be called an "all-rounder".
There is one more difference, in terms of the warranty period. The Sana 707 offers a 10-year warranty on the motor and gearbox and five years on the individual parts. The Omega 8228, has a warranty of five years on all parts.
Kind regards from Berlin :- )

AllrounderAs a "juice novice" it was important for me to be broadly positioned, i.e. to be able to try out all possible recipes. With the Omega 8228 I have found my all-rounder.
For people who are new in the field highly recommended. -

Price / Performance TopFor a long time I wrestled with myself which juicer it should be. Horizontal or vertical was the big question. My experience now tells me horizontal!
Especially in the juice yield plays the Omega-8228 in a league with the big ones. Ultimately, the optics were my main focus in the selection.
