On this page, we would like to inform you that Vitamix has launched a worldwide "recall" for the Vitamix blade base for Ascent blenders due to a potential safety issue.
The reason for the recall is that, according to Vitamix, there is a possibility that the container could separate from the blade base, exposing the blades and creating a risk of laceration. Vitamix is therefore asking all customers to immediately stop using the Vitamix blade base for Ascent high-performance blenders.
Vitamix has provided a free safety kit. This safety kit includes a protective plastic cover for the blade base, which you can easily install yourself. This will make the blade base resemble the Personal Cup Adapter for the Vitamix Classic Series. The kit also includes stickers to help attach the cups and bowls correctly to the blade base.

The safety kit is now available for free here.
Questions & Answers about the Product

Hello,
the information is extremely imprecise: "... that the container could detach from the blade base ..."
My blade base, along with the containers, has a sensor that immediately stops the motor if the containers come loose or are not screwed on properly. I consider the solution to be robust and safe and cannot understand your concern.

Hello Tobias Blättler,
As far as we are aware, out of 569,000 product units sold (including 225ml cups, 600ml cups, and individual blade blocks), which should have been in use millions of times in total, there have been a total of 27 cases of cuts worldwide, 19 of them in the USA alone. Even with exactly 569,000 uses, the probability of injury would be less than 0.005 percent. And it is probably even much lower. In other words, at most one person out of 21,000 individuals is affected.
Unfortunately, we currently cannot trace exactly how these cuts could have occurred and whether the operating instructions in the user manual were followed during use. The severity of the cuts is also unknown to us.
Thankfully, in our customer base, not a single case is known to us.
Under normal circumstances, as described, the blade should come to an immediate stop as soon as the container loosens from the blade base, even before one could detach the cup from the blade base.
Best regards,
Your GrueneSmoothies.com Team
