Finally a glass water filter!
This is what we have been waiting for a long time: a water filter that not only reduces pollutants in tap water, but also is an eye-catcher. The stylish glass body of this Lotus Vita water filter is perfectly rounded off by its bamboo lid.
The multi-level Lotus Vita filter system is extremely effective against limescale, heavy metals or pesticides and at the same time creates slightly alkaline tap water. It tastes fantastically soft!

Which pollutants are filtered out of the tap water?
The multi-level Lotus-Vita filter system got 4 stages. High-performance activated carbon filters and ion exchangers filter limescale, pollutants, heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues and pesticides out of the tap water during the first 3 filtration stages. Among others, the following substances are filtered out:
- Pesticides such as atrazine or hexazinone, each at 99.9 %
- Painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac at 99.9 %
- Heavy metals such as lead at 96.9 %, copper at 99.3 %, mercury at 99.3 % or nickel at 97.7 %
- Hormone-containing drugs such as the contraceptive pill or antibiotics at 64.2 %
The complete test report on the reduction capacity of the Lotus-Vita water filter system/cartridges is available here (PDF download).
How does the filtered water taste?
In addition to pollutant reduction, the fourth phase of the Lotus-Vita water filtration system uses bio-active ceramics (including magnesium, calcium, tourmaline, quartz sand and effective microorganisms) to re-mineralize the filtered water. Result: The pH value of the water shifts - a slightly alkaline, very soft taste is created.
Another advantage of the Lotus Vita glass water filter: When the water comes out of your tap, it has already travelled a long distance. The water supply can only be guaranteed by using high-pressure pumps. These pumps generate enormous pressure to which the water is exposed to all the time. The relaxed filtration in the Lotus Vita water filter, which uses gravity, gives the water time to relax. The combination of relaxation and mineralisation enhances the waters perfect, soft taste.
Who should have a Lotus Vita glass water filter?
Anyone who wants to avoid plastic in his everyday life, definitely should consider buying the Lotus vita glass water filter. For this reason, we have included the water filter in our product range. However, there are more features that point out who should buy the Lotus vita water filter:
- 1-3 person household: The Lotus Vita glass water filter is designed to filter 3-8 liters of water daily. Perfect for a 1-3 person household.
- Soft Taste: In addition to reducing pollutants, the water filter also provides slightly alkaline water, making it perfect for all people who like to drink soft water.
- Uncomplicated: The glass water filter is suitable for anyone who wants to drink high quality tap water, but does not have the facilities for a built-in water filter.
- Space-saving: You have little space in the kitchen - the glass jug of the water filter is extremely space-saving. With a diameter of only 13 cm it will find its place even in small kitchens.
Getting started with the water filter
The glass water filter is quite easy to assemble. It is important to rinse the filtration cartridge and the limescale pad, under running water, before using them. Lotus Vita shows how this is done in the following video. Don't be surprised, the filter used in the video is a different model. However, the filter system and operation are the same.
Filter cartridge and operating costs
The glass water filter is operated with filtration cartridges and limescale filter pads.
The filters must be replaced at the following intervals:
- Filter cartridge: after 2-3 months at approx. 8 liters per day
- Lime filter: after approx. 3-8 weeks, depending on the hardness of the tap water
The operating costs add up to approximately:
14 € per month or 0,43 € per day
If the annual set is purchased, the costs are slightly lower:
12 € per month or 0,40 € per day
Recommended accessories
Filter cartridge
The compatible filter cartridge can be purchased either individually or as an annual set.
Lime filter
The Lotus lime filter is also offered as an annual set:

Hi. Is Flouride filtered out?
Question submitted by Simone Meissle on July 31, 2023 at 09:21 o'clock
Hello Simone,
unfortunately, we can only answer this question with "no- yes". :-)
Gaseous fluorides cannot be filtered.
Bound fluoride is partially reduced.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer cannot make any binding statement about the percentage filtered out.

Good day,
i would like to switch from the large stand filter to the pitcher. Is the filtration performance of the lotus pitcher filters as good as the larger models that run the water much slower?
Many thanks

Question submitted by Jacky on July 4, 2023 at 16:21 o'clock
Hello Jacky,
thank you for your message.
The Lotus Vita products we sell use the same filter cartridges. You can therefore use cartridges purchased from us also for the glass water filter. The filter performance as well as the water flow time are exactly the same as with the water dispenser.

Hello all,
I have purchased the carafe with the stones for energizing, and I am already very enthusiastic about the optics.
Since I would like to take the carafe with me to Tunisia, I would like to know whether you could put the carafe in the refrigerator? It is very hot in the flats in the summer, and I would have concerns about leaving the carafe in the heat.
As we only cook with bottled water in Tunisia, I would like to know if this water could also be filtered with the carafe? The water is very calcareous, and I therefore had to descale my tea maker very often?
Thank you so much for answering my questions

Hello Katja,
thank you for your message.
I'm glad you like the glass carafe.
You can, of course, put the filled carafe in a refrigerator. But it is about 30 cm high, has a diameter of about 13 cm, and it measures about 20 cm at the widest point (width handle-outlet).
You can also filter mineral water, but it should not contain carbonic acid.

Hello!
What about the use if you are regularly away for 1-2 days?
Kind regards,
Johanna
Question submitted by Johanna on May 16, 2022 at 21:18 o'clock
Hello Johanna,
Thank you very much for your message.
If you are away for up to three days, place the entire filter carafe filled with water in the refrigerator.
If the filter carafe is not used for more than three days, the water should be poured out and all parts of the housing should be cleaned. The filter cartridge can then be stored, moist as it is, wrapped in a cloth or in a box, in the refrigerator at 5 degrees for up to three weeks. (the filter should not be frozen)
In case of absence of more than 3 weeks, we recommend stopping using the filter cartridge as well as the lime filter pad.
When putting the filter cartridge back into operation, proceed as for a new installation.

When I'm on holiday in Spain or Greece, can I use it to filter the water from the tap? Usually tap water is boiling water but tastes bad. Thank you!
Question submitted by Moser Gabriele on May 16, 2022 at 18:49 o'clock
Hello Gabriele,
The Lotus Vita filter system is only intended for filtering drinking water. Although, as far as we know, the tap water is declared as drinking water almost everywhere in Greece and on the Spanish mainland. The chlorine that is often added in southern countries is filtered out to 99.9% percent, so that the filtered water should taste much better.
Enjoy your holiday,

Hello, I have been using the water filter with the glass jug for 4 weeks, since 2 days black particles float in the filtered water.
What can I do here?
Thank you for a quick answer and many greetings
Elfie
Question submitted by Elfie on January 2, 2022 at 17:46 o'clock
Hello Elfie,
thank you very much for your message.
The small black particles are activated carbon. Lotus Vita uses very fine and high-quality activated carbon from coconut shells. Therefore, it may happen from time to time that the smallest particles come out.
Activated carbon is natural and not harmful.
Activated carbon is also used in medicine, e.g., for the treatment of poisoning and diarrhoea.
The filter performance and taste are also not affected by this.

Hello.
Does the water filter fit in the refrigerator door of a regular refrigerator?
Can algae form in the jug over time?
Thanks again!
Catherine
Question submitted by Katharina on August 20, 2021 at 20:44 o'clock
Hello Katharina,
thank you very much for your message.
The glass carafe has a diameter of 13 cm and is 30 cm high. This makes it a bit too wide for the door of a “normal” refrigerator.
The glass filter is intended for a daily filter volume of 3 to 8 litres.
If the jug is placed in direct sunlight, e.g., directly at the window, algae can form. You should place the jug in a darker place.
The jug should be thoroughly washed out after an infestation and disinfected with citric acid. If you notice a difference in taste, the filter cartridge should be replaced. If the filter cartridge is infested with algae inside, it should definitely be replaced.
Best regards,
Your GrueneSmoothies.com Team

Hello,
after I recently received my water filter ( glass carafe ), and tried the filter exactly as described, I was also curious about the filter result.
Thus, I had measured the conductivity ( ppm ) of the water before filtering
The ppm value is just under 230ppm for my tap water
After this water went through the filter, the ppm was just over 230
How can this be that the filtered water has a higher ppm value ???
A colleague at work filters with a cheaper filler where the ppm is much lower after filtering.
Do you have an explanation for this ??
Question submitted by Reiner Geiger on August 16, 2021 at 14:40 o'clock
Hello Reiner,
thank you very much for your question.
First of all, the PPM value only indicates the number of dissolved solid molecules per 1,000,000 water molecules.
It is not clear from it whether it is a matter of harmful dissolved substances or, for example, minerals.
Thus, harmful substances are removed from the water in the filtration process. Subsequently, a (re-)mineralization of the water takes place with the help of bio-active ceramics.
It is not so unusual that the conductivity of the water after filtration is just as high as before (or maybe even a bit higher). However, the water is more basic and tastes softer.

The cartridge we offer in the webshop can also filter normal plastic substances, but only up to a certain size.
The UF membrane, on the other hand, can also filter microplastic particles up to a fineness of 200 nanometres. However, this filter is incompatible with most Lotus jugs. We do not offer the micro sponge in our range, but the product is available in the Lotus Vita webshop.

Does the water filter also filter out most of the minerals in the water and if so, does the filter add any back to the water (specifically calcium and magnesium)?
LG :)
Question submitted by David on April 8, 2021 at 20:08 o'clock
Hello David,
Thank you very much for your questions.
Lime, pollutants such as heavy metals, drug residues or pesticides are reduced by using high-performance activated carbon and ion exchangers.
The fourth and final chamber of the cartridge contains bio-active ceramics (including magnesium, calcium, tourmaline, quartz sand and effective microorganisms), which remineralize and revitalize the filtered water.
This ensures that the PH value of the water is slightly alkaline.

Hello :) I have two questions about the water filter:
1.) What is the filler tank made of?
2.) Table water filters are often referred to as germ hotspots. What is behind this, and how do you rate the glass water filter from Lotus Vita?
Thank you very much and best regards.
Question submitted by Lena on August 7, 2021 at 21:50 o'clock
Hello Lena,
Thank you for your message. I will be happy to answer your questions!:-)
The filler tank is made of BPA-free, food-safe SAN plastic. In general, no germs can form if you filter at least 1.5 or 2.0 litres of water per day, change the cartridge in regular and prescribed intervals and do not expose the filter to direct sunlight or heat.
It is not possible to keep the filter 100% germ-free. There are germs in the tap water, in the air and also on your hands, which can
can naturally get into the water. However, these are not harmful.

Betsy

However, this also tells me that the filter quality only is that high at beginning and gradually decreases during the use. Approximately half of the filter performance left after 1 month?
Thanks for the answer.
Susanna
Question submitted by Susanna on June 17, 2021 at 11:04 o'clock
Hello Susanna,
Thank you very much for your message.
There are special ceramics in the third and last chamber of the filter cartridge. These are responsible for the soft taste and remineralization of the water. The lime filter can also be changed after a month, depending on the lime content of the water – one notices the change in taste.
The active carbon, which is responsible for filtering the pollutants, lasts a long time, i.e., it performs as well after a month as it did on the day of installation.

Since everyone's water consumption is different, it is difficult to give an exact longevity of the filter cartridge. It is generally said at 8 liters of water consumption, the cartridge lasts 2-3 months. After that, the lime and pollutants are no longer filtered.
Most customers change the cartridge as soon as limescale forms again in the carafe.
Kind regards from Berlin,

Hi, I can't see if the spout has a cover or if it stays open all the time?

Hello Andrea,
thank you for your message.
The spout itself remains open even when the lid is on.

Hello! Could you also use the Acala cartridges for this glass carafe? They look the same. LG

Hello Mikaela,
thank you very much for your message.
Unfortunately, we can not comment on the compatibility of filter cartridges from other manufacturers, but we recommend using the ones from Lotus Vita.

How much water fits the water tank? 2.4 or 1.4 liters
Question submitted by Bertold Kohm on May 1, 2021 at 22:08 o'clock
Hello Bertold,
thank you very much for your message.
The jug holds a total of 3 litres. If the filter is installed, the capacity of the filler tank is 0.97 liters and the filtered water reservoir holds up to 1.4 litres.

Very soft waterI have the water filter now for 14 days in use and am very satisfied. The water becomes very soft and is very digestible. I had another water filter before and must say that the water filtered with the Lotus Vita is much softer and tastes better than with my previous water filter from another manufacturer. I chose the Lotus Vita water filter because of the gas tank and so far I am very satisfied. The water is filtered quite quickly, so that is also always quickly freshly filtered water is available when more water than 1.4 liters is quickly needed. I always refill water immediately after the withdrawal, so that the supply of filtered water never runs out.

Skepticism unjustifiedI myself am a gas-water installer, so something from the trade ;)
Was very surprised to taste the enormous difference. Would meanwhile no longer do without my Lotus Vita water filter. -
