Juicing wild herbs: wild superfood kick in your freshly squeezed juice
We have been using wild herbs in green smoothies as well as in wild herb pestos for a long time. For us wild herbs are among the most valuable leafy greens of all. They surpass cultivated salads and herbs when it comes to nutrients. That's why they are called native superfoods. The best way to benefit from them is to enjoy them raw. It only was a matter of time for the wild herbs to move form the blender into the slow juicer. The result is three different recipes for juicing wild herbs in which we have used three mostly well-known and easily accessible wild herbs: nettle, dandelion and goutweed.
Our wild herb juice recipes at a glance:
- Wild herb juice with nettle, pineapple, zucchini and lime
- Wild herb juice with dandelion, celery, and orange
- Wild herb juice with goutweed, apple, cucumber and lemon
When juicing wild herbs, it is important that you juice them along with some vegetables and fruits. Producing a wild-herb-only juice is difficult with a slow juicer, that is because juicing wild herbs alone produces a jelly-like concentrate rather than a juice. And even though juiced wild herbs taste much milder than when they are processed in a green smoothie, the pure concentrate did not satisfy us in terms of taste.
Wild herb juice with nettle, pineapple, zucchini and lime
In our opinion nettle is the queen among the domestic wild herbs! It convinces with the highest amount of iron, protein and chlorophyll. Especially chlorophyll is said to be blood purifying, but also dehydrating, which is why the nettle is considered to be the detox herb par excellence. To get the most out of this valuable herb, we combine nettle with tropical fruits. In this recipe - pineapple and lime. To top it off zucchini is added, this mildly balances the juice creation.

Wild herb juice with dandelion, celery and orange
Everybody knows dandelion. You can not only blow it into the wind, but also eat it, which is not always known. Yet it is one of our most important medicinal plants: Dandelion is said to rev up the metabolism and stimulate digestion with its bitter substances. Especially the liver and the gall bladder are said to love it. Because of its bitter taste, you need some sweet counterparts in your freshly squeezed juice. These can be grapes or as in our recipe oranges. Celery also fits into this creation.

Wild herb juice with goutweed, cucumber, apple and lemon
Goutweed is known to be extremely alkaline. Therefore, it is said to be uric acid dissolving, dehydrating and anti-inflammatory. It also contains a lot of vitamin A, iron and protein. In terms of taste, goutweed is one of our favorite wild herbs, it has the tastes of wild parsley. That is why it is pretty easy to turn it into a freshly squeezed juice with cucumber, apple and lemon.

have you seen our wild herb juice recipes in the post above? Maybe you'll give one of the recipes a try?
Enjoy and savor them,
Carla
thank you so much for your comment and your question. I've never heard that you shouldn't eat cucumber with the skin.
Best regards,
Carla
Since I hardly eat sugar, I don't need any other taste with it.
I have a slow juicer from Kurvings that I am very satisfied with.
thank you for your comment. I have never juiced milk thistle leaves - thanks for this inspiration. I will do it immediately.
Warm regards,
Caral
my wife and I have been juicing a lot of stinging nettle plants every spring for years. We freeze the concentrate in ice cube trays and then "boost" our green salad smoothies in autumn and winter. It tastes good to us.
We juice with the Angel Juicer.
Best regards,
Peter
thank you for your feedback and of course for sharing your idea of preserving the nettles in the form of ice cubes and using them as a smoothie ingredient in the fall. The Angel Juicer is perfect for juicing wild herbs - it just doesn't get more efficient than that.
Warm regards,
Carla
yesterday I was fascinated by dandelion juice and bought something similar at the health food store today. Can I now make this smoothie with oranges and celery?
Warm regards
Thank you very much for your comment and your question. Of course, you can use the purchased dandelion juice to make a smoothie with a blender. Alternatively, you could also simply add a small handful of fresh dandelion to the blender - it will give you even more healthy nutrients.
Best regards,
Carla
do you need the fine sieve or the coarse for the wild herb juice recipes? Because yes pineapple and citrus are included?
Kind regards,
Claudia
thank you very much for your comment. I would definitely recommend the fine sieve. If the juice should be thicker, then you can also try the coarse sieve.
Kind regards,
Carla
I find your tips and suggestions excellent. Thank you very much for that. Now to my question: You offer very high-quality devices for juicing herbs (such as nettle, wheatgrass, or kale). I saw the "Panasonic MJ-L500SXE Slow Juicer Juicer" in a test on NDR 3 some time ago, which also does its job at a low price. Or am I mistaken? What about the juice yield there? Do manual tools also produce good results?
Best wishes,
Ernst-Georg
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we have not tested the juicer mentioned, so we cannot provide any information on juice yield and quality. Since the juicer is a vertical juicer, I would not recommend it for grasses, herbs, or other leafy greens. The vertical juicers we offer are better suited for mixed juices made from fruits and vegetables.
Best regards,
Carla
